Chicken noodle soup チキンラーメン

Have you ever had chicken noodle soup?

The Ghibli movie
「Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea」
This chicken ramen is the ramen that Sosuke's mother, Lisa, made for Sosuke and Ponyo on a stormy day. It looks so delicious with Ponyo's favorite egg and ham in it.

Ghibli works are good at expressing food. This scene makes me want to eat chicken noodle soup.

How to make chicken noodle soup
This is ramen, but I personally think of it as a snack.
They taste different from regular ramen, and what's more, they're easy to make!
When I make a regular bag of instant noodles, I add ham or vegetables, but I like to eat my chicken ramen without adding anything to it.

A recipe for chicken noodle soup?
Just add hot water and wait 3 minutes. That's it.
My recipe is too easy.😂

The reason why the middle of it is slightly indented is to prevent the egg from slipping when you put a raw egg in it, and it is called an egg pocket.

In Japan, eggs are collected and distributed using good hygiene practice and can be safely eaten even if they are not cooked. Tamagokake-gohan(卵かけごはん), which is raw eggs mixed with soy sauce and served over hot rice, is also easy and delicious.👍

The good thing about chicken ramen is that you can adapt it to your taste. I add a little more hot water than the amount written on the package.
If you don't like it hot, you may want to add a little water after the noodles are soft.
We usually eat them after 3 minutes, but I like to eat them 30 seconds before, when they are a little hard.

Smaller sizes are popular in Japan
When I went to the supermarket to buy some chicken ramen, I found a miniature version. It is a chicken ramen that is about the size of a mug.

It meets the needs of people who want to eat a little bit after eating a meal or who are hungry in the middle of the night.
In Japan, when an existing product becomes a hit, it is not uncommon for a smaller mini version of the product to be added and sold.

The same goes for snacks. Small bite size packs are very popular. There are so many people who keep them in their desk drawers at work. They are convenient for handing out as a small token of appreciation or when going out.

I also wrote about the small size snacks here. Take a look if you like.🤗

I often receive small sweets as well.
When I get a smile on my face, I also get a set of small requests.😂
This little snack is usually helpful when smoothing out relationships.😉

Mini version of chicken ramen
This is what it looks like compared to the normal size.
Huh? The color seems to be a little lighter.🤔

And there was also this bag in the package.
It says to put this in with the noodles before adding hot water.

Here's what it looks like inside.
There are small flowers inside. So cute!

Hmmm. The taste is not bad.
It's healthy... Like eating it as a meal.
Unfortunately, it was not what I was looking for.
What I'm looking for is a guilty pleasure snack feeling.😅

Noodles used as seasonings
I also found this new type at the supermarket.
These noodles are made by crushing hard noodles before adding hot water and mixing them with salad for a crispy texture.
It's not chicken ramen, but I have tried crispy noodles in salads myself.
I enjoyed the crunchy texture and was able to eat more raw vegetables than usual.
I guess it's like putting croutons or potato chips in a salad.

I thought it was a bit expensive for a seasoning, but I wonder if it will catch on in Japan.
I'll keep an eye on it.

Yebisu Bar Kyoto Yodobashi  In front of Kyoto station, there is a Yebisu beer speciality bar. In this bar, we can enjoy some kind of Yebisu beer. Here is the menu. There are so many different kinds, it's hard to decide. I chose one based on the chart for acidity and richness. It looked so good that I forgot to take a picture and just took a sip.😂 The beer foam is fine and delicious! Yebisu floated up from the coaster after I enjoyed beer.💕 There is an Yebisu figurine at the counter. . If you look closely, you'll see that Ebisu is holding a beer! Imagining the personality of the person who wrote the handwriting

Have you ever looked at a character and imagined the personality of the person who wrote it? With the spread of computers and smart phones, we have fewer opportunities to see handwritten characters, but the topic of handwriting and personality does come up once in a while in Japan. When I see the characters with stretchy strokes that protrude from the frame, I hear that they seem to have an open mind. On the other hand, when I see small, evenly spaced letters, I think that the person must be very meticulous. Historical Background This may have something to do with the history of Japan. Let me tell you a story from the Heian period(794-1185). Only the nobility can still read and write. In addition, the Heian period was a time when beautiful things were loved, and intelligence and culture were also signs of wealth for both men and women. Noblewomen do not show their faces in public. In order to meet a woman they are interested in, men first send her a love letter. At this stage, the man ...
