Karuta: Let's play with Hiragana

Karuta is a card game that consists of two types of cards: reading cards and picture cards.

This is a traditional Japanese game that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.ใ€€It helps children learn to read. It is also a great way for adults to get a little training as it uses their reflexes.

If you are tired of practicing hiragana, why not try playing karuta for a change?

Rule
Arrange the cards so that they do not overlap, and sit around the cards.

One person reads the cards. The person who touches the picture card that matches the reading card gets the picture card. The person who touches the wrong picture card gets a break.
The person who gets the most picture cards wins.๐Ÿฅณ

After print it out, please cut it with scissors.

There is also a plain karuta available.
I think it is fun to make up words and draw pictures while thinking of your own words.

In Japan, many kinds of karuta are sold, such as karuta of opposite words, karuta of proverbs, and so on. When you travel to Japan, please look for them in toy stores.

Hyakunin Isshu
There is also a competitive karuta game called Hyakunin Isshu, although the rules are different from these. Have you ever seen a manga or anime called "Chihayafuru"
This is a story about a girl who immerses herself in the world of Hyakunin Isshu.

It looks like a manga for girls, but it also has elements of a sports manga, so I think men can enjoy it as well. There seems to be a bilingual version of the manga with only the dialogues in English, but I couldn't find it on amazon.

There's also a live-action movie.

Does anyone here like beer? I like Yebisu beer the best. What is Yebis? Yebisu is the name of this god. He is the god of good fortune who brings prosperity in fishing and business. Imagining the personality of the person who wrote the handwriting

Have you ever looked at a character and imagined the personality of the person who wrote it? With the spread of computers and smart phones, we have fewer opportunities to see handwritten characters, but the topic of handwriting and personality does come up once in a while in Japan. When I see the characters with stretchy strokes that protrude from the frame, I hear that they seem to have an open mind. On the other hand, when I see small, evenly spaced letters, I think that the person must be very meticulous. Historical Background This may have something to do with the history of Japan. Let me tell you a story from the Heian period(794-1185). Only the nobility can still read and write. In addition, the Heian period was a time when beautiful things were loved, and intelligence and culture were also signs of wealth for both men and women. Noblewomen do not show their faces in public. In order to meet a woman they are interested in, men first send her a love letter. At this stage, the man ...

Japanese people love the sound of insects in autumn.

The nights have become a little cooler. It's almost autumn. The fall season is usually from September to November. The yearly temperature in Kyoto is roughly like this. Reference:  ๆฐ—่ฑกๅบ We are starting to hear the sound of insects. Bell crickets remind us that fall is here. Today I would like to talk about the sound of insects in autumn, which Japanese people love. When I hear the sound of insects on an autumn night, I feel a sense of peace along with the thought of being released from the heat. There is a famous nursery rhyme in Japan.
