Summer wagashi (mizu-manju)

Cold, slippery foods are popular in summer.
Mizumanju 水まんじゅう is a summer Japanese sweet.

Anko (sweet red bean paste) is wrapped in a jelly made from kudzu powder. It looks very cool, doesn't it?

Azuki beans are similar in color to red kidney beans, but they are a different kind. They are about 5 mm in size.

There are countless Japanese sweets that use anko (sweet red bean paste) .

Not only just for wagashi.
Anko is a delicious topping for pancakes!
What a guilty pleasure combination of Anko, butter and whipped cream!😋

Azuki-bar
One of my favorite summer sweets made with anko is an ice cream called "Azuki Bar".

Reference:

I like the slightly harder texture and refreshing sweetness compared to regular ice cream.

You can have azuki bars in Malaysia!

What a surprise, Imuraya's Azuki Bar will be available in Malaysia from September!
They've also obtained Halal certification to meet the tastes of Malaysians.

If you've tried it, let me know what you feel!

Aozora Bunko is a public domain e-book. Reference : 青空文庫 https://www.aozora.gr.jp/ Why is it free? Aozora Bunko stores two types of works: those whose copyrights have expired 50 years after the author's death, and those whose copyright holders have decided that it is okay to let people read them via the Internet. Tips for beginners l earning  JapaneseSome of the older works have a slightly different wording than the modern ones, so beginners in learning the language need to be very selective. However, there are many wonderful works that will move you. How to search the books If you know the  title or author's name, you can use the search box in the upper right corner to find it. If you have too many to find one book, I recommend children's books. Here is a list of children's literature novels. https://yozora.main.jp/9/1/ndck913.html Find the ones you like. If you replace your name in Japanese ranking.

Is your name on the ranking? A friend of mine played a game in which you have to replace the names on the ranking with the names of the same period and the same rank. The fifth most common girl's name in the USA is For example, the name 'Sophia' is the fifth most common name in the USA. The name 'Sophia', for example, is the fifth most common name in the United States and is associated with nobility in Japan, perhaps due to the influence of anime. Reference : https://www.babynamestats.com/top100.html Japanese names for the same rank. Transpose that to the Japanese name rankings and I get the name Tsumugi. The name Tsumigi means thread or fabric. The name sounds very pretty. Reference : https://st.benesse.ne.jp/ninshin/name/girl/name-ranking/ In Japan, it is the trend of the names after nature. And most of them are difficult to read, since their kanjis are many way to read. However it is cute. It seems to be the same all over the world that th...

Why don't Japanese people say "I love you"? (4)

Today I would like to write an article on the topic of how Japanese people communicate their dissatisfaction to others. Today's article is a continuation of the previous article, "Why don't Japanese people say I love you? This is the third article in the series. If you haven't read it yet, please read it from the beginning. 今日の記事は先日の「日本人はなぜ愛してると言わないのか」というテーマの続きです。今回はシリーズ4回目の記事です。 まだ読んでいない方は、初めから読んでみてください。 🔶 1回目の記事はこちら 🔶 2回目の記事はこちら 🔶 3回目の記事はこちら I think Japanese people are very empathetic due to their cultural background and education. However, on the other hand, I think many of us are not good at communicating small complaints. 日本人は文化的背景や教育により、共感力がとても高いと思います。しかし、逆に小さな不満を伝える事は苦手な人が多いのではないでしょうか。 Do I complain to the restaurant? お店に苦情を言うか Let's say I have just eaten at my first restaurant and the atmosphere is bad, the staff is not very nice, the food is bad and the bill is very expensive. I would not complain to...
