Kyoto Railway Museum

Since there are many railroads in Japan, many people have become familiar with and fans of railroads from a very young age.
In Japan, male train geeks are called tetsuo (鉄男) and female train geeks are called tetsuko (鉄子).

There is a place in Kyoto that is attracting the attention of tetsuo (鉄男) and tetsuko (鉄子) all over the country.
It's the Kyoto Railway Museum.

When I entered the museum, there was a cool steam locomotive on display.
This is the kind of locomotive that appeared in the anime "Demon slayer" which also became a movie. The story of "Demon slayer" is set in the Taisho era (1912-1926).
The first steam locomotive to run in Japan was in 1872, during the Meiji era.

You can see many different exhibits in the museum 😉.

This is a diorama.
You can see all kinds of miniature trains running on the tracks in Kyoto.

Ekiben
Ekiben are boxed lunches that can be bought at train stations and on trains.
At major stations in Japan, you can buy bentos that are unique to the area.
Eating is one of the pleasures of traveling 😉 .

This is a display of "ekiben," boxed lunches sold at train stations.

A rather unusual ekiben. This is an ekiben from Arita, Saga Prefecture, which is famous for its Arita-yaki pottery. It is a curry that comes in an Arita-yaki dish. It looks delicious, but it's too heavy to bring back home, so I think it's better to eat it on the way back from the trip. 🤔

Steam Locomotive Corner
I found a site that describes how a steam locomotive works, so here is the link.
It's in Japanese, but it's aimed at children, so the explanations are easy to understand, and the furigana are attached.

That combination of black and gold is gorgeous and cool!
We were able to see the part of the steam locomotive where the fuel is put in. I've seen the scene where coal is fed into the locomotive in movies.

When I was there, Thomas came to play in the steam locomotive corner. His eyes were moving. Thomas is also popular among Japanese children.😉

Yebisu beer speciality bar in Kyoto

Does anyone here like beer? I like Yebisu beer the best. What is Yebis? Yebisu is the name of this god. He is the god of good fortune who brings prosperity in fishing and business. Yebisu Bar Kyoto Yodobashi  In front of Kyoto station, there is a Yebisu beer speciality bar. In this bar, we can enjoy some kind of Yebisu beer. Here is the menu. There are so many different kinds, it's hard to decide. I chose one based on the chart for acidity and richness. It looked so good that I forgot to take a picture and just took a sip.😂 The beer foam is fine and delicious! Yebisu floated up from the coaster after I enjoyed beer.💕 There is an Yebisu figurine at the counter. . If you look closely, you'll see that Ebisu is holding a beer! Hahaha🤣 Offering money to the gods is probably the Japanese style. May you be blessed.✨ −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−− Yebisu Bar Kyoto Yodobashi  Address Kyoto Yodobashi 1F, 590

Read Japanese classic literature for free

Aozora Bunko is a public domain e-book. Reference : 青空文庫 https://www.aozora.gr.jp/ Why is it free? Aozora Bunko stores two types of works: those whose copyrights have expired 50 years after the author's death, and those whose copyright holders have decided that it is okay to let people read them via the Internet. Tips for beginners l earning  JapaneseSome of the older works have a slightly different wording than the modern ones, so beginners in learning the language need to be very selective.
