Sour and salty are the key to the summer snack corner.

Summer is in full swing in Japan. Some people lose their appetite due to the heat, some get sick due to the air conditioner, and some do not get enough sleep

In Japan, such symptoms peculiar to summer are called "夏バテ(natsu bate)".
A variety of products to combat the summer heat are on sale. This time, I'd like to introduce you to the snack corner.
Salty and sour snacks are popular in summer.

To replenish salt
When you sweat a lot, the salt in your body is released along with the water.
It is said that if you want to hydrate effectively, it is better to take a little salt and sugar together than to drink only water.

For this reason, the candy section is lined with products that are designed to replenish salt. Candy is convenient because it is easy to carry around when you go out.

Some come in tablet form.
However, please be careful not to take in too much salt.😉

Salty sweets 塩スイーツ
Speaking of salt...
Since around 2008, "salt" has been used in various sweets such as caramel, pudding, chocolate, and wagashi. Sweets containing salt are becoming a standard item and can be found in convenience stores and supermarkets all year round.
When you come to Japan, look for sweets with the kanji for "塩 salt" written on them.
The aftertaste is refreshing and delicious.

Sour Snacks
Another characteristic of summer in Japan is the increase in sour snacks.
Citric acid is said to be good for relieving fatigue and recovering a stagnant appetite.

Lemons and pickled plums(梅干し une-boshi) are the most popular sour foods in Japan.
Sour snacks can be purchased all year round, but there are more of them in the summer.
Snacks with the kanji for "梅 ume" are usually sour. Look for it.😉

Perilla juice with a slightly sour taste is also a taste enjoyed at home in summer.

Does anyone here like beer? I like Yebisu beer the best. What is Yebis? Yebisu is the name of this god. He is the god of good fortune who brings prosperity in fishing and business. Yebisu Bar Kyoto Yodobashi  In front of Kyoto station, there is a Yebisu beer speciality bar. In this bar, we can enjoy some kind of Yebisu beer. Here is the menu. There are so many different kinds, it's hard to decide. I chose one based on the chart for acidity and richness. It looked so good that I forgot to take a picture and just took a sip.😂 The beer foam is fine and delicious! Yebisu floated up from the coaster after I enjoyed beer.💕 There is an Yebisu figurine at the counter. . If you look closely, you'll see that Ebisu is holding a beer!
